General Instructions
If algae is present, it is recommended you treat this algae first with one of the Lo-Chlor Algaecides prior to beginning phosphate removal.

Clean or backwash filter and ensure pool water is balanced.

Shake the container well before use.

Slowly add the required amount of Starver® X to the pool water directly in front of the skimmer box inlet.

It is recommended that immediately following the addition of Starver® X, place one Lo-Chlor Miraclear Pool Clarifier Cube directly into the pump basket (follow package directions). The addition of a Miraclear Pool Clarifier Cube will reduce any cloudiness associated with phosphate removal.

Run filtration system continuously for 24 hours. Check filter pressure regularly and backwash, if necessary.

Test phosphate level of pool water at least 24 hours after treatment.

If necessary, repeat additional dosages at weekly intervals until phosphate level is within acceptable range. For faster results, Starver® X dosage can be repeated at 24-hour intervals.

N.B. After treatment regularly check phosphate levels in your pool. For ongoing control and treatment of phosphates use Lo-Chlor Starver®.

For Use in Natural Swimming Pools and Ponds

With no aquatic life present our phosphate removal products can be dosed at the maximum approved dosing rates using the following instructions:

Backwash the filter.

Calculate the required dose to lower the PO4 close to zero.

Add the required dose to a clean watering can and/or clean pump sprayer.

Add fresh water to the equivalent volume of 5 times the required dose rate and mix thoroughly. For example, 500ml of product requires a minimum of 2.5L of water.

Add the product ensuring maximum dispersion across the section of water. DO NOT dump into one area!

Phosphate levels should be checked a minimum of 24 hours after treatment.

Re-test the PO4 level and repeat as necessary.

If there is aquatic life present Starver® X can only be dosed to remove a maximum of 1ppm per treatment. This is due to the sensitivity of aquatic life. If aquatic life is present then please use the following instructions:

Backwash the filter.

Calculate the required dose to remove 1ppm. In a 50m3 pool/pond a dose of only 167ml of product is required.

Add the required dose to a clean watering can and/or clean pump sprayer.

Add fresh water to the equivalent volume of 5 times the required dose rate and mix thoroughly. For example, 167ml of product requires a minimum of 835ml of water.

Add the product ensuring maximum dispersion across the section of water. DO NOT dump into one area!

Phosphate levels should be checked a minimum of 24 hours after treatment.

Re-test the PO4 level and repeat as necessary.

We recommend a proactive approach to phosphate control therefore once you have obtained a PO4 level of 0.5ppm we recommend a weekly dose thereafter to remove this amount.

For Use in Aquarium

The dose rate on a bottle of Starver® X is based on removing phosphate from a swimming pool. If you are using Starver® X in an aquarium then please use the following instructions:

Prior to dosing make sure that any filters in your aquarium are thoroughly cleaned.

For initial doses (until phosphate levels are at zero) apply 3ml of product per 100 litres of aquarium water.

Repeat this dose every 4 days until your phosphate level reaches zero.

If any corals present show sign of stress, wait 7 days prior to dosing again.

Once your phosphate level is at zero then use a maintenance dose of 3ml per 200 litres of aquarium water on a weekly basis

Please Note:

The activity of Lo-Chlor Starver® X will depend on your filtration.

If high levels of phosphate are present, the aquarium water may turn slightly cloudy – this will clear.

Always ensure that calcium levels are maintained to reduce any possible coral stress.

Always use an accurate phosphate test kit.
